Invisalign First” is a custom-made orthodontic treatment for ‘building a foundation for teeth alignment’.
Invisalign First is the first step in orthodontic treatment for children. The best time for treatment is between 7 and 9 years of age, when the four front upper and lower teeth have erupted. This is a stable period when no new permanent teeth erupt, so treatment can proceed efficiently.
The ideal child orthodontic process
Around age 7, orthodontic treatment using “Invisalign First” widens the jaw to make room for the teeth to line up nicely.
Wait for permanent teeth to erupt.
Around the upper elementary school years, we proceed with orthodontic treatment using “Invisalign Compli-hensive” to avoid removing bicuspids as much as possible.
The teeth are moved in fine increments to achieve a beautiful alignment.
*There is a separate fee for late-stage treatment. We will discuss whether or not to proceed to the later stage treatment after the completion of the first stage treatment, if necessary. We recommend the later stage treatment for patients who wish to have more beautiful teeth, but this does not mean that the later stage treatment is necessary at this time.
*Time and method of treatment varies from person to person. We will provide the most appropriate guidance on a case-by-case basis.

Disadvantages of Invisalign First

Custom-made mouthpieces for children are used to expand the jaw slowly and precisely. This is a “completely new orthodontic treatment” that differs from conventional treatment methods. It is accurate, safe, and efficient, and creates space for permanent teeth to grow beautifully.

The key to successful treatment is to determine the direction of treatment with a correct diagnosis and to follow the diagnosis. In order to make a correct diagnosis, our clinic takes the time to conduct a thorough examination, verification, and treatment planning process.

A correctly designed mouthpiece ensures safe and efficient treatment. The director himself is responsible for designing your mouthpiece, which is supervised by one of the few Invisalign faculty members* in Japan to ensure even higher precision in treatment.
A faculty member is a dentist in a position to supervise Invisalign treatment and is recognized by Align Technology, Inc. of the United States, the company that offers Invisalign treatment. It is said that there are only about 20 Invisalign doctors in Japan, or about 0.2% of all Invisalign doctors, so to speak. Our clinic has created this system under the supervision of one of the faculty members, Dr. Hiroshi Samoto of Aoyama R Dentistry.

*For difficult cases, it may not be possible to make a decision until CT x-rays, panoramic x-rays, and intraoral scans are done first, and Invisalign is asked to create a simulation and actually design it. The actual cost of creating the simulation will be 29,000 yen. Please note that Invisalign Inc. does not have a cooling-off system and there are no refunds in case of cancellation.

About retention
Even after treatment is completed, teeth are subjected to various forces in daily life. In order to keep the teeth in alignment after treatment, it is important to “retain” them in that state for a certain period of time. We will check up on the retentive appliance several times a year.

Based on our philosophy of “eliminating overcutting caries treatment and over-extraction orthodontic treatment,” we pursue “custom-made orthodontics” to achieve a dental alignment that suits each patient’s individuality.
We introduced the Invisalign system in 2012 and have refined our techniques through trial and error, starting with family members and staff. Many cases that required the extraction of bicuspids in conventional wire orthodontics can now be treated without extraction with Invisalign. Also, when we introduced Invisalign First for children, we started treatment with the children of our staff and achieved good results.
Now we are able to utilize digital data for more precise treatment planning. We will continue to promote safe custom-made orthodontics that values individuality.
